How to wash viscose without shrinking it?

Viscose is a man-made fibre derived from plant cellulose. Prized for its softness, fluidity and elegant drape, it creates lightweight, comfortable garments.

At SANDRO, we increasingly favour viscose made from cellulose sourced from sustainably managed forests, alongside lower-impact fibres such as LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose.

Viscose is an artificial fibre, particularly sensitive to water. To prevent garment shrinking during washing, it is essential to follow these recommendations:

Washing :

Hand wash cold, do not soak. Once wet, fibre naturally contracts and hardens.

Wringing :

Gentle manual wringing; excess water can be absorbed by rolling in towel.

Drying :

Air drying on hanger recommended. Once dry, garment retains shrunken and very stiff appearance.

Ironing and steaming :

Essential to restore volume, softness and suppleness to fibre. We recommend ironing and steaming garment inside out to avoid leaving marks.
