Wool care guide: washing and maintenance tips Sandro

WOOL

How to wash wool jumpers or garments?

Wool is a natural fibre renowned for its durability and thermal properties, allowing it to retain heat while remaining breathable. Featured in our jumpers, coats, suits or accessories, it holds an essential place in the SANDRO wardrobe.

We increasingly favour wool from more responsible sources, notably certified Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) or recycled.

Wool is a natural fibre that reacts very quickly to washing, and therefore requires special care.

  • Dry cleaning recommended :

  • To preserve your garment over time, we advise entrusting it to experts who will maintain its vibrancy. For structured woven items like coats, jackets or trousers, washing is not suitable due to shrinkage and felting risk.

  • Ironing :

  • It is advisable to ask the dry cleaner to only steam the garment and/or use a damp cloth if ironing is necessary on certain parts such as collars or button plackets.

  • Washing :

  • Cold hand wash with suitable detergent, avoiding fabric softeners, is possible for some knitwear. Wash inside out without soaking. Some items may be machine washed in a protective wash bag on a very delicate programme (max 400 rpm spin).

  • Drying :

  • Gently press out water without twisting and dry flat on a towel, away from direct sunlight.
